:: Meet The Team

Dave - Centre Co-ordinator I'm keeping this short and clean, which sums me up perfectly really. Walked into the Volunteer Centre in 1996 to offer my services and was frightened to death, now I find myself responsible for it! Scary!! Still have to pinch myself at times, but it has been an enjoyable, if something of a roller-coaster ride. |

Janine Project Worker I came to England over ten years ago for a holiday. I didn't plan it to be this long but there were lots of things to do and see. I'm still doing and seeing, and thought a good way to meet new people was to volunteer with the befriending project at the Volunteer Centre. Met some lovely people, am still visiting the same friends and now I'm co-ordinating the project. It's a lovely, rewarding job. |

Emma Development Worker After spending time at home with my children and studying for a degree in Psychology, I felt I needed to expand my work experience and be involved in worthwhile project, so I decided to do some voluntary work. I approached the Volunteer Centre and was particularly interested in the Centre's Involve Project, which aims to change attitudes and remove any barriers that people with disabilities may have in accessing volunteering opportunities. To my delight the Centre was advertising for a development worker for that very project - I applied and happily the rest is history. |

Sue Unwin YOU Admin Assistant Joined the team to work on The YOU project. I am married with two very lively children who, when I am not at work, have a tendency to run me ragged. I originally trained in the catering Industry and worked in some top hotels and restaurants. However I wanted a change and gradually drifted into clerical work. The YOU project is a new challenge for me and The Volunteer Centre, so should be fun! |

Frances Daly Cartawick Youth Mentoring Project Worker Coming to work at the Volunteer Centre feels like a real home from home. Lots of chaos, laughter and the odd stressed out moment (mine having my photo taken for the website) but I'm the kind of person who likes challenges and change and there's plenty of that here! |

Geoff Rowlands - Y.O.U. Project Worker I came to the Volunteer Centre in May 2006 after qualifying as a Youth and Community Worker. I come from Derby, consequently I support Derby County Football Club (but then no one's perfect!) I enjoy anything to do with music, anything sporty, and just sitting doing nothing in front of the TV, although somehow I don't think I'm going to have much time to be pursuing that particular hobby! |
