:: It's our birthday! March 2006 sees the Volunteer Centre, Chesterfield and NE Derbyshire celebrating its 10th anniversary. Now 10 years might not seem like a long time but we have seen more than our fair share of thrills, spills and changes (particularly in staff) along the way. So we thought it fitting to recognise those brilliant 10 years with a bit of a do. The Volunteer Centre was opened on March 11th 1996 in Clay Cross, Derbyshire, before moving to larger premises on Glumangate in Chesterfield in 1999. After a brief spell of insecurity we moved to our current premises on Rose Hill. As a way to celebrate 10 wonderful years serving the public of Chesterfield and North East Derbyshire, The Volunteer Centre will hold a week long celebration starting on Monday 20th March 2006. We will be open as usual, and the team will be on hand to inform and support anybody wanting to volunteer in the Chesterfield and NE Derbyshire area. In addition to this the Volunteer Centre will be displaying a number of volunteer success stories to amaze and inspire everyone. The week will end with the presentation of special awards for long serving volunteers by the mayor of Chesterfield at our 10th anniversary party that will be held at the Volunteer Centre on Friday 24th March. So own up how many of these past and present members of staff do you remember? Sorry no prizes if you remember them all. Yvonne Kee; Lyndsey Pegg; Sandra Wood; Julie Dennis; Katya Redwood; Anne Waddington; Faye Tory; Tim Hickton; Sharon Smith; Kate Gridley; Janine LeMire; Steve Watters; Emma Clay; Dave Radford We would like to thank the following local businesses for supporting the Volunteer Centre during our week of celebrations: Jackson's The Bakers Ltd, New Hall Road Brampton (Thanks for the birthday cake!), Ottakers Bookshop (Vicar Lane, Chesterfield), Shentalls Florists (Glumangate Chesterfield), Peak Bookshop (Low Pavement) |
